Albuquerque, New Mexico – August 18, 2015: Optomec, a leading global supplier of production grade additive manufacturing systems for 3D printed metals and printed electronics, today announced it signed a distribution agreement with Viwa to represent the Optomec LENS family of 3D metal printers in Mexico and Central America. Viwa, based in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México, has a broad range of experience in CNC machine tools, robots and mechatronic systems.
The Optomec LENS family of turnkey 3D metal printers is used to cost-effectively repair, rework and manufacture high-performance metal components in materials such as titanium, stainless steel, and super alloys. The LENS print engine, which can be integrated with other metal working machine tools, is poised to have a game-changing impact on manufacturing industry.
Viwa began its history over 30 years ago and is the first company to build and market CNC machine tools in México. Over the years Viwa has continued to introduce advanced manufacturing solutions and has expanded its reach throughout Central America.
“Adding LENS manufacturing technology to our product line follows our long history of introducing new and exciting metal working capabilities to the manufacturing industry in México and Central America,” said Dr. Roberto Jacobus, Director General at Viwa. “What’s especially exciting about the LENS process is that it can be adapted to our current line of CNC vertical machining centers bringing hybrid manufacturing capabilities to our customers, allowing them to produce parts which involve printing metal and then machining the resulting parts with a single setup on the same machine. The LENS process will provide value across their entire product lifecycle from printing new metal parts, to repairing old broken parts.”
“We are very happy to partner with Viwa to bring LENS technology to manufacturing market in Mexico and Central America”, said Michael Kardos, Optomec Vice President of World Wide Sales. Viwa’s well established expertise in the machine tool market and their excellent reputation makes them an ideal partner to reach a broad customer base in the region.’
Viwa is a leading supplier of CNC machine tools in Mexico with nearly 20 years of experience serving the growing manufacturing sector in the country.
