Dr. Richard Grylls to Discuss Complementary Nature of Laser Deposition and Laser Sintering Processes For Various Applications
Albuquerque, New Mexico, 28 February 2012:Optomec announced today that the Company will present its Laser Engineered Net Shaping (LENS) Systems at the LAM Workshop in Houston, Texas on February 29-March 1. Dr. Richard Grylls, Product Manager for Optomec will give a presentation titled “Laser Deposition and Laser Sintering”. The presentation will explain how laser deposition processes and laser sintering processes complement each other, and how each can be applied successfully to various applications. Four additional speakers will give presentations on LENS applications, and visitors to the LAM workshop can enjoy presentations from powder manufacturers, OEMs, and industry leaders.
The Laser Institute of America’s (LIA) 4th annual LAM Workshop is devoted to laser based processes for the deposition of material, and continues to attract equipment builders/integrators and users, from industries ranging from Medical to Heavy Machinery. While the presentations may range from tailored fabrication of titanium implants to the repair of mining equipment, there are common areas of interest that are the foundation for this workshop. Advances in lasers, process monitoring and control, types and management of clad materials and other areas cut across many industries and applications.
